Hyperspectral sensors capture hundreds of narrow, contiguous bands — enough to resolve the subtle absorption features that distinguish one mineral from another. Remote Miner gives you hyperspectral imagery two ways:
- EMIT (NASA) — a public hyperspectral instrument that works just like any other public source: pick it in the workflow, set your dates and filters, and search its archive live, at no imagery cost. Nothing special to request.
- PRISMA (Italian Space Agency), Hyperion (NASA) and EnMAP (German Space Agency) — three on-demand agency archives with a request-and-deliver workflow, covered below.
The on-demand trio: how it works #
Open the Hyperspectral window and pick an Area — the platform searches each agency’s archive for scenes over your site. All three now work the same way: matching scenes are drawn as footprints on the map and listed for you to select in-platform, then request. Each archive covers a different span: EnMAP from 2020 onward, PRISMA from 2019 onward, and Hyperion the EO-1 mission’s operational life (2001 to early 2017).
Requests, limits & delivery #
- Requests don’t cost credits — you’re free to request hyperspectral imagery.
- Because the agencies fulfil them, you can only have a limited number of requests pending at once, per instrument: PRISMA up to 1, EnMAP up to 3, and Hyperion unlimited (its archive is fetched automatically, so it doesn’t tie up a slot). When you’re at the limit, the request control is disabled until a pending one is delivered.
- Delivery takes time: from a couple of hours up to several days, on the agency’s schedule. You’ll be notified when your imagery is ready.
Finding your delivered imagery #
Delivered hyperspectral scenes arrive as private imagery — you retrieve them from the instrument’s Private entry, not from the on-demand search window. They show up in the workflow’s instrument picker for that Area (with an available-scene count), and in the Uploads tab of the Cloud. Like any uploaded imagery, they consume your upload quota and count toward your storage.
From there they behave like any other imagery: build Visuals, run wavelength-analysis insights, export, and analyze.
