Managing and Using Spectral Signatures

1 min read

Within the Spectral Signatures module, users can view, share, and delete their own spectral files. All these actions are explained below.

Viewing Signatures #

You can view public, shared, and personal spectral signatures directly from the module:

  • Click the eye icon in the column on the right to view an individual signature.
  • To view multiple signatures at once (between 2 and 8), use the checkboxes to select them and click the View button.

This allows for visual comparison between different spectral profiles.

Signature Ownership #

  • You: Marked with a user icon.
  • Public: Displayed with the label “PUBLIC.”
  • Shared: Identified by the first letter of the owner’s name. Hover over the icon to view the full username.

Sharing Signatures #

You can share any of your uploaded signatures with colleagues:

  1. Click the user icon under the Actions column.
  2. Select one or more users from the list to share with.
  3. Once changes are made, the Share button will become active. Click it to confirm.
  4. To revoke access, simply deselect the users previously shared with.

Deleting Signatures #

To permanently delete a spectral signature:

  1. Click the trash icon under the Actions column.
  2. Confirm the deletion. Please note that this action cannot be undone.

Analyzing Signatures #

You can correlate spectral signatures with hyperspectral imagery using instruments like EMITEnMAP, or PRISMA.

  1. Select the desired hyperspectral instrument.
  2. Click Manage Insights from the toolbox.
  3. Choose Create New Insight.
  4. Complete the form and select the spectral signature from your library.
  5. Use the newly created block within the My Insights section as usual for further analysis.

Best Practices #

  • Always validate your spectral data before uploading.
  • Leverage the public library as a benchmark or comparison tool.
  • Regularly maintain and organize your spectral signature library for efficient access.
