Remote Miner is YNSAT’s geospatial intelligence platform for the mining industry, built for mineral exploration — also known as prospecting: discovering and characterizing new minerals and materials, from the first regional screening to target definition. It brings together remote sensing data — public satellites, private constellations and your company’s own imagery — and lets you integrate your own geochemical and geophysical data alongside it. Whether you are doing greenfield exploration at regional scale or focusing on a small AOI inside an active operation, the analysis happens in one place, with no GIS or remote-sensing software on your side.
This page introduces the vocabulary you will meet everywhere in the platform and in this manual.
The core concepts #
Area — a named area of interest: a concession, a mine site, an exploration zone. You draw it on the map or upload it as a file. Every analysis starts from an Area.
Zone — a smaller AOI inside a saved Area. You can draw or upload zones, and use them to mask that part of the Area or to export only that part of your results.
Instrument — an imagery source: a public satellite such as Sentinel-2, a private constellation your company has access to, or your own uploaded imagery.
Insight — an analytical recipe applied to imagery: a band ratio, a principal-component analysis, a spectral-distance match against a reference signature, a trained classification model. Remote Miner ships a public catalog of insights, and you can create your own.
Stack — a named bundle of insights you like to run together. Selecting a stack applies all of its insights in one go.
Visual — one complete workflow: an Area + an Instrument + one or more Insights, computed on the imagery you filtered. Building Visuals is the everyday loop of the platform.
Mask — a pixel filter built from insight thresholds (for example, “hide everything that is vegetation”). Masks can be applied to any Visual to focus on the pixels that matter.
Workflow — a saved Visual you can re-run in one click; if you recorded analytical steps on top, the workflow replays those too.
Trained AI Model — a machine-learning model you train on your own ground truth to classify materials over an Area. Trained models become insights you can reuse, and their full training history stays available.
Spectral Signature — a reference spectrum of a material (mineral, rock, soil…) used by spectral-matching insights and by the point-inspection tools.
The Cloud — your company’s storage space in the platform: everything you export ends up there, ready to download as GeoTIFF or other formats.
Library — the reference catalog of every insight and instrument in the platform, with detailed descriptions of what each one does and when to use it.
Settings — the global display preferences that apply to everything you render: resampling, color palettes, measurement units, active masks and masking mode.
Profile — your personal space: My Account (your details and display options), Y-Stats (your usage statistics) and Releases (what’s new in the platform).
How it fits together #
- Define where: create or pick an Area (and, if useful, its Zones).
- Define what data: pick an Instrument and filter its imagery by date and cloud cover.
- Define what analysis: pick Insights (or a Stack).
- Visualize the result on the Globe, refine it with the analytical tools, apply Masks.
- Export what you want to keep to the Cloud, or save the analysis as a Workflow.
